What is it about?
Bacillus subtilis development is regulated by a tripartite protein complex RicAFT, previously YmcA-YlbF-YaaT, which stimulates a multicomponent phosphorelay. This complex houses two [4Fe-4S]2+ clusters and is capable of binding FAD. When the clusters are oxidized, RicAFT no longer stimulates the phosphorelay, suggesting that its activity is controlled by the redox state, although not necessarily by molecular O2.
