What is it about?
This literature review is about patients and their visitors (consumers) involvement in early detection of physical deterioration in patients and taking their concerns to health professionals so they can render rapid assistance.

Why is it important?
We have not previously seen a literature review on this aspect of care. Jane and I considered it important to identify and appraise evaluative studies of consumer participation in systems dedicated to early detection of patient deterioration and rapid medical intervention.
