What is it about?
The mitigation of autogenous shrinkage is found to be highly dependent on SAP’s absorption and desorption kinetics. Water absorption of SAP will affect the desorption, and the later will affect the effectiveness of internal curing. The size and amount of SAP has an important for the two process.

Why is it important?
We quantify the effect of SAP content and size as well as different SCMs on the SAP water uptake/release in pastes with low w/b ratio using 1H-NMR and to explore their efficiency in mitigating autogenous shrinkage.
