What is it about?

The vibrios load of more than 5,000 diseased shrimp from commercial growth-out farms was quantify to estimated the bacterial levels along ten years.

Why is it important?

This is the first report about the vibrios load in hemolypnh and hepatopancreas from diseased shrimp and their correlation with the shrimp size. Data from 5,900 shrimp were analized and a real vibriosis level was determinated

Perspectives

In my perspective, this is the first scientific work about shrimp vibriosis using vibrios density from commercial shrimp ponds, and is the first time that the virbios density was correlated with size. Larger shrimp had higher vibrios in hepatopancreas independently of the health status.
