What is it about?

A total of 53 patients having upper molars to be extracted were enrolled. After the extractions, localized management of maxillary sinus was performed and a dental implant was placed. All these surgical procedures were carried out in a single session. Bone height between alveolar crest and sinus floor was measured before and after the surgery to estimate the amount of bone augmentation over time

Why is it important?

A 100% implant survival rate was reported. at 13 years old follow up, bone values were stable at a mean value of 8,01 mm

Perspectives

Compared to lateral sinus lift, crestal approach is much less invasive. In particular, localized management of sinus floor in fresh molar sockets allows minimal trauma, guarantees both vertical and horizontal bone expansion and gives the chance to perform an all at once implant dentistry
