What is it about?
It is a review of the role of cholesterol during the process known as liver regeneration. Cholesterol is more than a structural lipid forming part of the plasma membrane in a free fashion, or together with other lipids, as part of dynamic domains named lipid rafts. It also participates in the modulation of sterol-dependent proteins and importantly, contributes protecting again cytotoxic effects produced by bile acids shortly after a partial hepatectomy is performed.

Why is it important?
This knowledge is important because if we know better a phenomenon, namely liver regeneration, we can use those elements to control or improve the process. Moreover, cholesterol is really important through the all process.
