What is it about?

A maxillary first premolar was extracted and submitted to three dimensional radiological examination. Afterwards, one canal was shaped with ProTaper S1 file and the radiological examination was repeated. Pre and post cross sectional images of the tooth were realigned and processed using a visualization software. Qualitative and quantitative analysis of root canal anatomy was carried out

Why is it important?

CBCT radiological examination allowed root canal anatomy reconstruction and it's enlargement after shaping

Perspectives

On one hand, three dimensional radiology it's nowadays essential in Endodontics as it's one resource more that can be very useful for diagnosis. On the other hand, we must not include it into routine practice protocols
