Mandibular cortical indices in osteoporotic women on treatment with oral bisphosphonates

What is it about?

We evaluated the mandibular indices, mandibular cortical width (MCW) and height from the inferior mandibular border to the mental foramen (MBMF), in women on treatment with oBPs for osteoporosis.

Why is it important?

Our results indicate that the MCW is greater in osteoporotic women treated with oral bisphosphonates than in women with no osteoporosis. We therefore consider that this radiological index should not be used to predict the risk oral bisphosphonate associated osteonecrosis of the jaws
