Why is it important?
Puzzles over varied modes of coenzyme recognition in the GDH family made it important to determine a high-resolution structure for an NADP+ dependent example. The E. coli GDH structure had been studied at low resolution 20 years earlier in a Sheffield-Leeds collaboration but was not taken to high resolution at that time.
