What is it about?

A total of 66 patients requiring dental extractions in the anterior maxilla were included. Implants with smooth collars were placed and immediately loaded but with different lengths: short collar 0,5 mm and long one 1,8 mm. Intra-oral radiological examinations were performed at baseline, 6, 12, 24 and 36 months to evaluate bone loss over time

Why is it important?

At 3 years, dental implants survival rate was 100 %. Marginal bone loss revealed to be minor in long collar implants but no differences concerning peri-implant soft tissues were found

Perspectives

Dental implants macro-gemetry must be well known by the clinician to get maximum success in cases where the aesthetic result can not be missed to give a proper smile to our patients
