Why is it important?
Differently from previous skinning methods, Position-Based Skinning allows to 1) remove typical errors like the candy-wrapper effect (introduced by linear blend skinning), and unwanted bulging (introduced by dual quaternion skinning). 2) it preserves the volume of the character skin, and 3) provide a controllable way to add secondary animation. These benefits are provided without sacrificing interactivity.
