What is it about?

A systematic review of xanthines and chalcones relating to their anti-lipase activity, reporting their efficacy as well as their inhibition type. A discussion of their structures and activities was presented

Why is it important?

Provide evidence (in vitro, in vivo) showing the inhibitory efficacy of chalcones and xanthines on pancreatic lipase. This contribute to the discover new anti-obesity agents via the modification of effective compounds and their features. Type of inhibition of these compounds help to deeper understanding of these groups

Perspectives

The efficacy of xanthines and chalcones from the natural sources might be not very strong. However, the structural characteristics from effective compounds might be useful for future studies on drugs discovery.
