What is it about?
We show that cyclic AMP can protect heart against ischaemic insult. This effect, along with an increased contractility of the heart, is mediated by a coordinated action of the two enzymes, PKA and Epac. Another enzyme, PKC, is activated by PKA and Epac and participates in the cyclic AMP-induced cardioprotection.
