What is it about?
This paper explored the possible combination of carbon and nitrogen in proportions, that helps to stimulate microbial growth, for improved Artemia biomass and cyst production. The optimum ratio was also anticipated to improve on water quality as the microbes help to harvest carbon and nitrogen from water for their growth.

Why is it important?
The paper is important as it was the first to explore this technique in Artemia salt production pans and hence lays the foundation for further research. Findings can possibly be directly applied by Artemia farmers to facilitate Artemia production in saline production systems.
