What is it about?
A systematic, highly descriptive assessment of the various compartments or organs inside, but also outside the pelvis, provides a complete and reproducible picture of the present findings. The extent of the findings is classified according to localization and size. The application corresponds exactly to the requirements and systematics in sonography, MRI assessment and finally also in surgical diagnostics.

Why is it important?
Due to the complexity of endometriosis in appearance and symptoms, a classification of the disease into e.g. only four stages (rASRM) is not meaningful enough and unsuitable for the consultation and treatment of patients. In contrast, the application of the #Enzian classification now opens up completely new perspectives. The available data of the older Enzian classification already demonstrated a significant correlation of the findings with symptoms, surgical difficulties and complication rate. A correlation between sonographic and surgical findings is of great advantage and allows an interdisciplinary view and classification of the disease. #Enzian serves as a common "language".
