Why is it important?

This was the first study to evaluate the role of preoperative blood count indexes as predictors of hospital stay in thoracic surgery.

Perspectives

Our results suggest that simple, inexpensive and widely available inflammatory cell indexes obtained with simple blood cell counts can be useful for the early identification of patients at risk of prolonged hospital stay in open elective thoracic surgery.
