What is it about?
Hot water and steam treatment are used for grape bins and viticulture machinery to avoid the risk of transfer of the insect biosecurity pest grape phylloxera. This papers tests the efficacy of both treatments and against 6 different strains of phylloxera. It shows that steam is very effective as a treatment and whilst HWT is effective the susceptibility to treatment depends on the phylloxera strain.
