What is it about?
We compared nitrate levels in bottled water and compared with water supplied through municipal supplies. in New Zealand. We found that many new Zealanders are receiving water from the tap that is significantly higher than bottled water.

Why is it important?
This result highlights the contamination of drinking water in New Zealand by intensive landuse, and the privilege's given to commercial water bottlers by allowing them access the cleanest water at no charge.
