this is a short article to indicate that metal ion based antimicrobials are an important consideration to deal with antimicrobial resistance; an issue that beginning to plague our health care system. It also defines how we are already misusing these antimicrobial agents

The antimicrobial resistance era is upon us. We need: legislation to limit antibiotic use, development of new antimicrobials, and maintain drug use stewardship through proper education of health care and industrial professionals.
