What is it about?
We analyzed expression of the 20 Bombyx mori CSP genes across all various tissues of the insect body. We thus tested the effects of insecticide abamectin on BmorCSP gene expression. A single brief exposure to insecticide increased dramatically CSP expression mainly in the gut and fat body (COVER PAGE)

Why is it important?
Our work shows that CSPs play no role in olfaction. The function of CSPs is reset. We showed coordinate expression of CSPs and metabolic cytochrome P450 enzymes in a tissue-dependent manner in response to the insecticide. We suggest a role in transporting xenobiotics that are then detoxified by cytochrome P450 anti-xenobiotic enzymes.
