What is it about?
Black women in Black activist spaces are often overlooked or underappreciated despite their contributions. This paper suggests that Black women remain engaged in these spaces despite this mistreatment because they are motivated by the legacy of the Black activists women who have come before them and are willing to sacrifice their comfort to further the fight for Black liberation.

Why is it important?
As activism in the Black community soars, it is important to recognize potential barriers to success in Black activist spaces and to ensure that the voices of Black activist women are being heard and understood.
Perspectives
Black activist women have historically contributed so much to the development and liberation of the Black community. This article is my attempt to give something back to them. This article highlights their voices and perspectives and I hope that it encourages readers to consider the lived experiences of people who have often been overlooked. All lives and identities deserve to be recognized as complex, dynamic, and nuanced. I hope readers recognize that I have attempted such a depiction here.
