What is it about?
This paper is about a study conducted in a Spanish children's home, where we examined how a point-based reward system was used as an educational tool. We conducted this study because there is limited knowledge about the daily lives and education of children in care within children's homes.

Why is it important?
This study clearly demonstrates how certain "objective" and "scientific" educational tools, such as these reward systems, are often modified and influenced by various individual, social, and institutional factors. What's fascinating is that this analysis highlights a deeper and more complex educational process in which children and professionals are involuntarily engaged. This deeper process turns out to be the essence of effective educational processes in children's homes.
