This work is about using volunteer computing to speed up simulations of biological functions e.g. using all the computers in a department or an institute

Why is it important?

Speeding up simulations of biological interactions and functions allows us to model the effects of drugs, interventions and better understand health and disease states in hours rather than days. Also that it can be done using desktops rather than having to buy bespoke computer hardware.
