What is it about?
The paper gives a novel method for networked control based on sparsity. Networked control is used in IoT (Internet of Things), smart grid, sensor network, etc, and it is one of the most important control researches for industry. Sparsifying control packets transmitted through communication networks leads to efficient data compression, which can be solved sparse optimisation. The paper shows the notion of sparsity is useful for networked control systems.

Why is it important?
Sparsity is a hot topic in signal processing, machine learning, statistics, etc. The paper is the first paper that gives theoretical proofs of the effectiveness of sparsity methods for networked control.
