What is it about?

This is a exploration in getting clinician input directly into the design process. The process is well described and the importance of clinical input is discussed. The device VitalPad is also really interesting as it makes patient monitoring much more accessible. These kinds of distributed tools could really revolutionize hospitals.

Why is it important?

Too many health care innovations fail or fail to reach their potential because they are not designed with clinical needs in mind. This paper shows a great process for bringing clinical input right into the design process, and improving your final design.

Perspectives

This is work by Matthias Gorges and his students at UBC. I mostly added positioning and the participatory design ideas. I love working with this team though because they have fantastic clinical access and are really working on the kinds of tools that are going to get adopted. They have research translation figured out!
