What is it about?

This paper goes into detail about how NASA has electrified a Tecnam P2006T aircraft with a redundant electric bus / battery architecture, as well as how command signals are routed to/from the cockpit.

Why is it important?

Electric propulsion for aircraft is a growing field and X-57 Maxwell is NASA's first all-electric airplane demonstrator. Lessons learned from this aircraft will be applied to future demonstrators, future electric propulsion regulatory practices, and industry.

Perspectives

This paper was a collaboration between NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center and ESAero.
