What is it about?

Two haptic guidance methods were compared. One was guidance by vibration motors, the second was by continuously moving "sliding element". Both methods were implemented to a joystick handle. We assessed participant performance and questionary about intuitiveness, effectivity, and efficiency of mentioned methods.

Why is it important?

A significant difference between the two methods has been measured. The performance of the "sliding element" method was better in guidance than methods by vibration motors.

Perspectives

Haptic guidance might improve flight safety. It might help transition from speed control to AoA control of aircraft, which is supposed to be better in loss of control prevention.
