What is it about?
A Vibration Blocking Filter (VBF) design is proposed for the purpose of cancelling poorly damped oscillatory modes of the system to be controlled. It improves precise positioning, eliminates unwanted system vibrations and does not require prohibitory high input and state values. The control structures with VBF have been analyzed and compared to other methods of dealing with undamped system oscillations. The design produces a FIR filter that has minimum “one norm” and requires negligible design and on-line computational effort.
