What is it about?

Who are the top tourism countries? Which country is the most competitive? Which country gets the most out of tourism? Is tourism a global phenomen? Authors argue that our understanding of tourism , based on exisiting statistical databases and nation states and existing interpretation of data might not give a true understanding of tourism. Ilustrations and arguments support this. Maybe Switzerland is not the most competitive tourism country, maybe it is Thailand. Maybe tourism is not a global system, maybe is limited so some parts of the world only. Maybe we need to look at the total tourist numbers (international and domestic) in order to thruly understand tourism development.
