What is it about?
Government initiatives in Qatar to reform the education system are important for the economic diversification and development of the country. A well-structured education system supports the overall development of the economy by focusing on the human capital. Heavy reliance on natural resources to support the economy calls for the government to implement changes in the education system to build a strong knowledge base. Furthermore, these reforms are crucial for the country to match the international standards that are necessary for the transition of Qatar from being a resource-based economy to a knowledge/education-based economy. This case study sheds light on the reforms that are being implemented to contribute to Qatarization efforts, develop an effective education system, and to ease the overall economic transformation process.
