What is it about?
Institutes of social innovation that are nested within higher education institutions can help overcome many of the rigid structures in the wider educational system that inhibit social innovation. This paper reviews the added value that these comparatively small and flexible units contribute to social innovation, and suggests several ways that higher education institutions can support these decentralized institutes.
