We review and synthesize literature published between 1991 and 2021 on inward foreign direct investmentemnt in emerging economies. It explains how location factors influence foreign direct investment and how does it impact emerging economies.

We enhance understanding of what influences firms' investment in emerging economies and how it impact those economies. Key identified factors that influence investment decisions include institutional quality, corruption, intellectual property rights, regional trade agreements, regional distances, formal and informal institutions, diversity and policy expectations.
