What is it about?
Demotions, downward job transitions, occur more than generally assumed. In this article three kinds of demotions are studied, namely job level, salary and job authority demotions. We look at the influence of gender, education and age to the probability of being confronted as an employee with demotion.

Demotions are not widely studied in theory as well as in practice. This article shows that demotion is not a marginal phenomenon and that it impacts the employee as well as the organization.
