Why is it important?

We suggest that the NMC reform the pre-registration nursing standard, so that, the mental health nursing workforce properly support the needs of mental health service user.

Perspectives

I do hope this article stimulates academic discourse with regards to the concept of 'what constitutes a good mental health nurse?' This question is perhaps the most important question facing the profession. If we fail to contribute to the evidence, with regard to the uniqueness of mental health nursing, then we will fail to fully advocate for our patients and service users.
