What is it about?
We compared the national and international rankings of a) the top higher education institutions in Pakistan and b) the top Asian institutions according to the QS Rankings - Asia with their respective institutional rankings in ResearchGate to see whether there was any correlation. Basically we found that the the institutions which score low in ranking systems tend to also have a low "RG Score".

Why is it important?
Part of the ranking of higher education institutions is based on research performance, e.g. number of citations. Research which is only visible to a very limited audience reduces its potential to be read and discussed, especially if that research is only available in print format. We have suggested how institutions can take a more strategic approach to this through leveraging the benefits offered by academic scholarly networks. Key stakeholders such as departmental heads, research offices, and librarians all have an important role to play.
