What is it about?
Libraries have an important role in the provision of health information. Basically people generally see libraries as familiar, accessible and a reliable source of information, and librarians working in health institutions as being in a good position to liaise with medical professionals to provide the most effective health information service possible for patients and individuals in general. The study has examined the level of awareness of high blood pressure and the role of librarians in the dissemination of health information among high blood pressure patients in Lagos State, Nigeria

The specific issues addressed in the study include an understanding of the role of librarians in the dissemination of health information for the management of high blood pressure, knowledge of the risk factors of high blood pressure, symptoms of the disease and the influence of the disease on the patients’ lifestyles.
