What is it about?

This research examines how Harold Bixby, a Pan Am executive and a successful entrepreneur, developed advanced cultural intelligence (CQ) through his expatriate experiences in 1930s China. The research highlights the importance of extensive reading/studying in the process of knowledge accumulation, and the role of critical incident in learning tacit knowledge such as values and basic assumptions. Moreover, we suggest that metacognitive CQ can be enhanced through meditative and reflexive teaching and research practices.
