This research studies Australian fashion small-to-medium enterprise practicing closed loop design as drivers of change towards alternative sustainable and circular design practice and business models.

Why is it important?
Australians consume twice the global average of textiles the Australian fashion sector is challenged by geographical distance, a sparse population and local limitations in processing and manufacturing. This research looks at how Australian fashion small to medium enterprises (SMEs) are overcoming these challenges and are running fashion businesses built around core principles of product stewardship, sustainability and circularity.
