What is it about?

Big data analytics aspects in Supply chain operations is a much-discussed topic in the literature. However, there still is a lack of understanding of the relationships between technology-driven supply chain management, called Supply chain 4.0, and Big Data in developing countries. This paper investigates the mediating role of Big data analytics between Supply Chain 4.0 business performance and nine performance factors. The approach developed in the paper consists of a survey based approach coupled with Exploratory Factor Analysis and Structural Equation Modelling. At a later stage, artificial neural network analysis is developed for cross-validation. The results of the implementation of the approach in Indian context show that the performance factors of organisational and top management, sustainable procurement and sourcing, environmental, information and product delivery, operational, technical and knowledge, and collaborative planning have a significant effect on big data adoption. Moreover, the artificial neural network show that ‘information and product delivery’ and ‘sustainable procurement and sourcing’ are the two most vital predictors.
