From ovid to COVID: the metamorphosis of advanced decisions to refuse treatment into a safeguarding issue

What is it about?

Advance Decisions to Refuse Treatment (ADRTs) have a mixed press. During the COVID-19 pandemic concerns arose that ADRTs were either ignored or decisions were applied on the basis of assumptions made by clinicians. We suggest that increased knowledge and reform of ADRTs can help safeguard people's well-being and decisions for treatment.
