What is it about?

Most of the comparative analysis done on private and public hospitals focused on service quality and customer satisfaction. This study extended that by adding word-of-mouth recommendations, type of ailments suffered, cost of service and Health Insurance as determinants of hospital choice.

The study presents a more comprehensive criteria for the choice of private or public hospitals. Previous studies either looked at one or a combination of these factors.

Perspectives

I believe this study will go a long way to help not just the people in the academia, but also the players in the health industry. In this age of abundant service and reducing switching cost, it is very important for health service providers to know the factors that influence patients' choice of hospital. This knowledge will help them position themselves better in the industry.
