What is it about?
The impact of Stratospheric Aerosol Injection (SAI) on the mean surface air temperature and precipitation extremes was investigated in four regions across in Africa. It is found that SAI will contribute to reduce significantly the regional warming (about -0.40°C). The termination effect of SAI will mitigate the projected risk of drought over the extratropical regions (especially in Southern Africa), while the risk of floods will be exacerbated in the Sahel.
