What is it about?

While career decision making challenged many students, the study confirmed that such difficulties were not related to student’s employment status. Full-time university students and part-time (employed) students faced various difficulties in choosing the right career. Career decision making difficulties therefore were influenced mainly by the person’s gender, income, and age. Around one-third of full-time students (33%) feared job interviews compared to around two-third of part-time students (67%). Because employment status did not necessarily reduce difficulties that surrounded career decision making, it was crucial for employers and university educators to incorporate career-related training and education within the curriculum and work harder to ensure that university students are equipped to make better career decisions.
