What is it about?
Latin American countries have limited resources to fund research. Our data shows that ongoing research on local diseases such as dengue fever, Zika virus and yellow fever appear to contribute to a knowledge base applicable into the study of COVID-19.

Why is it important?
Our findings suggest that existing scientific knowledge and infra-structure should continue to be funded, because it can be redeployed into the study of new diseases when a new health emergency occurs. Statistical, network and geo-referenced analysis is applied in this study.
