What is it about?
When police officers shoot a person, they must be investigated and give their account of the event. We find that officers are more likely to give complete and accurate accounts when interviewers recognise officers’ trauma, act fairly and keep officers informed. The study shows the importance of aligning officer interviews with best practice witness interviewing.
