Why is it important?
This article intends to serve as a guide for modelling, refining and validating carbohydrate structures, describing and proposing standard practice where required.
Perspectives
With this publication, I have tried to address the lack of basic structural literature for carbohydrates. Every figure has been carefully crafted to provide clear explanations of sometimes difficult scenarios. The article was made open access thanks to CCP4 (www.ccp4.ac.uk), as it was part of the 2016 CCP4 Study Weekend proceedings.
