What is it about?
Diffraction and scattering data are predominantly collected using area detectors. On synchrotrons, for example, the rate of data collection is very large meaning that efficient methods for integrating the 2D detector data into data as function of scattering angle and/or azimuthal (orientation) angle are needed. The paper presents a very efficient method for this purpose and exemplifies it by analysis of scanning diffraction data on bone.

Why is it important?
The proposed method allows users to conduct online data analysis during experiments at for example synchrotrons, which helps make the most out of the valuable beam time
