What is it about?
DNA replication in E.coli is initiated by DnaA protein. In the absence of this initiator protein, the replication can be restarted by gamma ray irradiation at low doses. The starting sites are distributed stochastically. Other mutants such as dnaB failed to initiate in the same conditions.

Why is it important?
