People with synesthetic experiences are better in mental imagery

What is it about?

We measured people's synesthetic tendencies (such as grapheme-colour synesthesia, where particular letters or numbers are automatically experienced with certain colors). The higher these tendencies, the better people where in observed and self-reported mental visual imagery.

This is one of the first studies to show the relationship between synesthetic experiences and mental imagery where participants did not know that the research question was about synesthesia.
