What is it about?

This is a theoretical model for ice particle impact onto a solid substrate. It describes the process of particle deformation and is able to predicte the size of the residual part of the particle, the maximum force produced by particle impact. The model is validated by numerious experimental data.

Why is it important?

The paper is important for better understanding of the ice accretion process.

Perspectives

This study will help us to better understand the mechanisms of ice particle impact anf fragmentation, to predict and model the ice accretion inception
